Third Trimester Game-Changers: Must-Haves You’ll Wish You Had Sooner

I honestly cannot believe I’m already well into my third trimester! It feels like this pregnancy has both flown by and dragged at the same time — if you know, you know. As my body changes (again) and new discomforts pop up, I’ve definitely had to update my little survival kit for these final weeks.

If you’re in your third trimester too, or preparing for it, here are the things that have genuinely made a difference for me lately.

1. GRDL Pregnancy Belt

Okay, let’s talk about this game-changer first because it’s been an absolute lifesaver. I originally bought a cheaper pregnancy support belt earlier on, but by around 30 weeks, my hips were screaming at me. I could barely walk without wincing in pain.

After a chat with my physio, she recommended the GRDL belt and honestly — worth every cent. It was around $75 AUD, and I can actually walk comfortably again. If you’re dealing with pelvic or hip pain, do yourself a favor and look into a high-quality support belt.

2. Birth Ball

I’ve swapped out chairs for my birth ball more often than not these days. It’s perfect for encouraging good pelvic alignment, relieving hip pressure, and prepping the body for labor. I’ll often use it when I’m working at my desk, watching TV, or just stretching in the evenings.

3. Collagen & Supplements

If you’ve followed my pregnancy journey, you’ll know I’ve talked about supplements throughout — and nothing’s changed in the third trimester. In fact, it’s become even more important.

  • High-quality prenatal vitamins are still a must.

  • Iron has become crucial now as your iron stores can drop towards the end of pregnancy and you’ll need good reserves for labor and recovery.

  • Collagen is my little secret weapon for supporting skin elasticity. I take a decent dose daily in a drink, and while nothing can guarantee no tearing, I’m doing what I can to prep my body.

4. Heat Pillow

The lower back and hip pain is real in these final weeks. A heat pillow has been my best friend in the evenings, helping to ease those deep aches after a long day. I’ll link the one I’ve been loving below — it’s been a total comfort ritual.

5. Massage Gun

Because my husband works fly-in, fly-out (FIFO), he’s only home one week at a time — and when he’s here, he’s a legend with the massages. But when he’s away? That’s where my mini massage gun comes in.

It’s honestly been a total game-changer for those tight glutes, lower back tension, and even just those little niggling aches in my shoulders or feet. The best part is you can use it on yourself without needing anyone else. I’ll check if the one I have is on Amazon and link it down below — highly recommend having one on hand for these final weeks.

6. Colostrum Collection Kit

I recently ordered a colostrum collection kit (I think it’s from Moabump — I’ll double-check and link it). My midwife is coming next week to show me how to use it. I love the idea of being prepared and having some colostrum on hand for those early newborn days, especially if feeding gets tricky.

I got this one: Colostrum collection Kit

7. Magnesium Rub & Belly Oil

Two more nighttime essentials:

  • Magnesium rub on my legs every evening. I haven’t had a single leg cramp since using this consistently, and I’m crediting that miracle to the rub!

  • Belly oil to help with skin hydration and minimize stretch marks. I’ve been super diligent with this since early pregnancy and will keep going right until baby arrives.

    My favourites are Pure Mama

Final Thoughts

Every pregnancy is so different, but these are the things that have honestly made such a difference for me in these last few weeks. It’s the little comforts and tools that help me feel a bit more human, a bit more supported, and a little better prepared as I head towards birth.

I’ve popped all the products I’ve been using and loving down below if you want to check them out for yourself.

We’re so close now, mamas — hang in there. You’ve got this. 💛
